Throughout the year you will be reading good books for enjoyment. Many girls and boys read one book each week in their leisure time. It is a good idea to plan for your leisure reading rather than to pick up just any book that happens to be on hand.
Each month make a class list of a dozen good books that members of your class might enjoy. Choose a committee to gather suggestions for it. One member could read book reviews on youth readers' websites. Another might visit the public library and learn about
good books available there.
Any member of the class who has read or heard of a good book may write its title and author on a slip of paper and hand it to the committee chairman.
Try to have a variety of books on your list. That is, have some books of fiction, some adventure tales, some historical books, some about topics in science, some poetry, and any other kinds you may wish.
Each member of the class should try to read at least four books from the list each month.
